New vaccine for the active immunization of horses to reduce the incidence of respiratory infections and clinical symptoms caused by influenza virus and equine herpesvirus horses (EHV-1)

  • Contains current strain EHV-1 isolated in the Czech Republic, which also provides cross immunity against EHV-4
  • Includes new strains of influenza viruses in accordance with the recommendations of the OIE

One dose (1 ml) of the vaccine contains:

Active substances:

Inactivated virus equine influenza, strain:

A/Equi 2 Morava 95    -     Min. 6.0 log2 HIT1

A/Equi 2 Brno 08        -     Min. 6.0 log2 HIT1

Inactivated equine herpes virus (EHV-1)      -       Min. 2.1 log10 VNI2

1  geometrical average of specific antibodies determinated by heamagglutination inhibition test in serum of guinea pigs

2  Virus neutralization index determined in serum of  hamsters

Adjuvant(s): Oil adjuvans (Montanide ISA 35 VG)   -  0.25 ml

Excipient(s): Thiomersal   -  0.1 mg

INDICATION(S)

For the active immunization of horses to reduce the incidence of respiratory infections and clinical symptoms caused by influenza virus and equine herpesvirus horses (EHV-1).

Onset of Immunity: 14 days after primary vaccination

Duration of Immunity: 6 months after revaccination

For the active immunization of pregnant mares to reduce the incidence of abortion induced herpes virus infection of horses (EHV-1).

DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, ROUTE(S) AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION

The vaccination dose – 1 ml

The vaccine (1 ml) is applied deep intramuscularly into the neck muscle; it is applied into the pectoral muscle only exceptionally in case of restless horses.

Primary vacciantionagainst influenza and equine herpes virus:

1st vaccination at the age of 6 months; 2nd vaccination after 4 weeks;

Revaccinationagainst influenza and equine herpes virus:

The first revaccination (third dose) should be administered  3 months after primary vaccination and each following revaccination is applied every six months.

Vaccination pregnant mares:

To reduce the incidence of abortion caused by equine herpesvirus infection is administered 1 dose of the vaccine in pregnant mares in the second month after admission and at 5 to 6th and the 9th month of pregnancy.

ADVICE ON CORRECT ADMINISTRATION
