Bioveta Supported the 25th Annual CAZWV Conference On October 3-4, 2025, the 25th annual traditional professional meeting dedicated to veterinary issues concerning animals kept in zoos, exotic animals, and wildlife took place. The event held at the Veterinary Research Institute in Brno was attended by Assoc. Prof. MVDr. Martin Faldyna, Ph.D., director of VÚVeL, and Prof. MVDr. Zdeněk Knotek, CSc., Dipl. ECZM, president of CAZWV, who was also the expert guarantor of the seminar.

The main theme of this year's conference was clinical pathology. Participants listened to a total of 20 expert presentations that provided not only new insights into clinical pathology but also practical experience from other fields of veterinary medicine. External veterinarians from nearly all zoos in the Czech Republic were present.

Special attention was given to the presentations by researchers from VÚVeL, which highlighted the possibilities of advanced laboratory diagnostics. The program continued with presentations of interesting cases from zoos. The director of SVÚ Prague, MVDr. Kamil Sedlák, Ph.D., captivated the audience with his talk about the occurrence of foot-and-mouth disease in giraffes in Dvůr Králové in 1975. The concluding presentation by MVDr. Lukáš Pavlačík provided a compelling narrative about the rescue of a forest elephant from a poacher's snare in Congo.

After the professional program, a CAZWV members' meeting took place, followed by a social evening. This event was held in a friendly atmosphere and provided space for informal conversations among colleagues.

On the second day of the seminar, participants had the opportunity to tour the facilities of the Veterinary Research Institute, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. In the 1950s, the institute took over several activities from the then State Institute for the Recognition of Animal Diseases and Vaccine Production in Ivanovice na Hané, now Bioveta, a.s., which is one of the long-term sponsors of the CAZWV seminars.

We greatly value the opportunity to support events that contribute to the development of veterinary knowledge and the protection of animal health in zoos and the wild. This two-day meeting took place in a wonderful atmosphere, and Bioveta thanks all the organizers, speakers, and participants for their contributions and active involvement.
