Inactivated vaccine against canine leptospirosis

type of preparative: Vaccines
target species animals: Dog

Can we help you?

Composition - 1 ml:

Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae inact.                        min. titre 32 defined by MAT*)

Leptospira canicola inact.                                            min. titre 32 defined by MAT*)

Leptospira grippotyphosa inact.                                  min. titre 32 defined by MAT*)

2% aluminium hydroxide gel, sodium merthiolate, culturing medium.

Characteristics:

The vaccine contains the purified, inactivated germs of leptospires adsorbed on aluminium hydroxide gel. The third leptospire serovar (L. grippotyphosa, L. sejroe, L. Bratislava, etc.) can be added into the vaccine according to the actual conditions of the infectious state.
Effect method: The antigen contained in the vaccine - after it is applied into the body of the vaccinated individual - is detected as the foreign body and therefore the great number of the protective mechanisms of the organism are activated (macrophages, opsonins, interleukins, B lymphocytes, etc.) due to which the specific antibodies against the antigenic determinants contained in the vaccine are formed. Said specific antibodies will prevent the subsequent infection onset after infecting.

Indication:

For the active immunization of dogs against the most often occurring leptospira serovars. Animals aged 8 weeks and above can be vaccinated.

Contraindication:

Total pyrexial disease

Method of administration:

Subcutaneous

Dosage:

1 ml regardless of the age, weight or race of the individual.

Preparation for application:

Shake the content of the container well before use.

Vaccination schedule:

The vaccination scheme should be specified by the veterinarian in dependence on the infection situation and the level of the passive immunity obtained due to the colostric antibodies in the vaccinated individuals. The animals vaccinated for the first time shall be revaccinated at least once at the interval of 14 - 21 days. In order to keep the permanent immunity of animals the regular revaccination should be carried out every year.

The vaccine Biocan L can be applied separately, simultaneously or grouped with other Biocan series vaccines:
  • A) The vaccine Biocan L can be used as a diluent for other lyophilized Biocan series vaccines (DHPPi, DHP, DP, DH, P, for example).
  • B) The vaccine Biocan L can be applied also in a group with the liquid Biocan C vaccine. The vaccination dose is in this case 2 ml.
  • C) If the vaccine Biocan L is applied in a group with the liquid Biocan C vaccine said grouped vaccine could be used as a dilutor for the lyophilized Biocan vaccines. The vaccination dose is in this case 2 ml.
