Additional information:

Vitamin E (tocopherol)

Vitamin E – acts as an active antioxidant of membranes.Actively enters to chain reactions, interrupts cascade of free radicals reaction and protects biomembranes against their action.
It is present in a form of alpha tocopherol, which is the most efficient.Vitamin E supports the function of reproductive system, muscles, nerves, endocrine and immune system. It supports the metabolism and utilisation of oxygen in muscles. It protects vitamin A, beta-carotene and unsaturated fatty acids against oxidation. The recommended daily dose in a horse is 0.25 mg/kg of live weight. 1 – 3 g are administered to a racing horse daily in the period of maximal exertion.

Vitamin B group

Thiamine is essential for energetic metabolism and correct function of nervous system.Minimal quantity per kg of dry feed is in average 3 mg and could be doubled based on the degree of exertion. The deficit is manifested by loss of appetite, weight loss, in-coordinated movements, nervousness and weakness.Daily intake of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) is 2.2 mg/kg of dry feed.Vitamin B6 (riboflavin), panthotenic acid (in the product in a form of calcium salt, vitamin B5), niacin (vitamin B3, nicotinic acid, nicotinamide) has a key function in metabolism as a whole.

Iron

It is an essential element for production of blood dye haemoglobin and myoglobin in muscles.Iron plays an important role during oxygen transfer to cells by means of red cells – improves supply of oxygen to tissues and thereby improves their performance.Consumption of iron during exertion is approximately 20 mg iron /kg of live weight. The deficit of iron contributes to reduced performance, causes anaemia and loss of appetite.Deficit of iron results in weight loss.

Lysine and methionin

Lysine and methionin belongs to a group of amino acids. These amino acids play an essential role mainly in young horses, where they are used in muscles as basic building units.
They are part of many metabolic enzymes.

Minerals

Increased concentration of electrolytes in horses during exertion – sweating, mainly in the course of longer period of training and during increased muscle exertion, requires increased intake of the following mineral substances: Ca (calcium) – it has a great importance during muscle contraction, P (phosphorus) – regulates nervous and
muscle performance, it has a favourable effect on metabolism, Mg (magnesium) – deficit of magnesium results in cramps, influences metabolism of proteins and sugars, sodium and potassium have a great importance for the water metabolism in the organism, maintain acid-base balance, zinc supports the immune system of the organism. If the losses exceed the level of 100 g per one animal in case of sodium and chlorides, this condition must be immediately treated with the administration of required electrolytes. In case of the development of other mineral and trace elements deficits is this condition compensated by the administration of energetic paste.Administration of the paste ensures regeneration in a relatively short time interval of regeneration.

Potassium

Losses of potassium in horses during exertion are approximately 1.5 g/kg of live weight. In case of increased energetic exertion and uniform intake of food or diarrhoea, there is a risk of potassium losses, and it is therefore necessary to supply this mineral.

Magnesium

Magnesium contributes mainly to correct function of muscles and nervous system.Deficit of this mineral is manifested by fatigue, nervousness, muscle tremor and cramps.

Zinc

Zinc contributes to fermentation reactions during metabolism of carbohydrates and proteins.Recommended daily intake of zinc is 50 mg/kg of live weight.
