Live vaccine against erysipelas in pigs

Composition - 1 ml:

Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae attenuatum - at least 1 x 107, culturing medium, lyophilizing medium, diluent A.

Lyophilizate dissolution: rehydrate the lyophilizate in full volume of diluent A enclosed when the vaccine is to be applied subcutaneously.

Follow the scheme below when the vaccine is to be applied intradermally:
  • Dissolve 20-ml package (lyophilized constituent) in 4 ml of Diluent A - for the dose per 0.2 ml i.d. (i.e. 20 doses)
  • Dissolve 20-ml package (lyophilized constituent) in 2 ml of Diluent A - for the dose per 0.1 ml i.d. (i.e. 20 doses)
  • Dissolve 100-ml package (lyophilized constituent) in 20 ml of Diluent A - for the dose per 0.2 ml i.d. (i.e. 100 doses)
  • Dissolve 100-ml package (lyophilized constituent) in 10 ml of Diluent A - for the dose per 0.1 ml i.d. (i.e. doses)

The vaccine shall be consumed within 3 hours after its dissolution.

Effect method:

After the antigen contained in the vaccine is applied into an animal's body, the specific antibodies are formed protecting the immunized animal against erysipelas. Immunity onset occurs within 8th - 14th day after the application and lasts for 6 months.

Indication:

Immunization of pigs against red murrain.

Contraindication:

Clinically ill animals. Antibiotics shall not be applied to animals 7 days before and after vaccine application.

  • 2 ml
Intradermal:
  • 0.1 ml or 0.2 ml (according to lyophilizate dissolution intended for use with a needleless applicator - see the section "Lyophilizate dissolution").
a) Pigs intended for fattening:
  • The vaccination should be performed at the age of 8 - 9 weeks (15 - 20 kg of live weight). The vaccination ensures immunity for the whole fattening period.
b) Pigs intended for breeding:
  • The first vaccination should be performed at the age of 8 - 9 weeks (15 - 20 kg of live weight);
  • The re-vaccination should be performed at the age of 5 - 6 months; Each further re-vaccination should be performed in 6-month period.
  • The inactivated vaccine shall be used if animals weighing above 20 kg of live weight are vaccinated for the first time.

Adverse effects:

Slight hyperthermia accompanied with mild decrease of fodder intake can be observed temporary after the vaccination. The latent infection accompanied with local or total disease symptoms can be activated rarely within 3 - 5 days after the vaccination.

Storage:

Store in a dark and dry place at the temperature between 2 - 8 °C.

Protection period:

21 days

Special measures for disposal of unused veterinary preparation:

Both the packages and any rests of the preparation shall be disposed in compliance with the valid regulations.
The preparation shall not be used after the shelf life (expiry date) indicated on the package expired.

Shelf life:

2 years. The vaccine shall be consumed within 3 hours after being dissolved.

  • 1 x 20 ml (1 x 10 doses for s.c. application per 2 ml; 1 x 20 doses for i.d. application per 0.2 ml; 1 x 20 doses for i.d. application per 0.1 ml).
  • 5 x 20 ml (5 x 10 doses for s.c. application per 2 ml; 5 x 20 doses for i.d. application per 0.2 ml; 5 x 20 doses for i.d. application per 0.1 ml).
  • 1 x 100 ml (1 x 50 doses for s.c. application per 2 ml; 1 x 100 doses for i.d. application per 0.2 ml; 1 x 100 doses for i.d. application per 0.1 ml).
