BIOSUIS PRRS inact Eu+Am

A vaccine for active immunization of young sows and sows in order to reduce reproduction disorders and to reduce viraemia caused by the virus of porcine reproduction and respiratory syndrome of both European and American type of virus

The vaccine contains

  • both of the known inactivated PRRS viruses (European and American subtypes),
  • modern oil adjuvant (Emulsigen) strengthening the immunogenic properties of the vaccine

Vaccination of sows and young sows:

  • Vaccination from 6 month of age
  • The vaccine dose is 2 mL is deeply intramuscularly in preauricular region
  • Initial vaccination before breeding: two vaccine doses at 2-3 weeks’ interval
  • Revaccination always with one dose on the 60th to 70th day of gestation
  • The range of immunization is always up to the veterinarian’s consideration and the specific situation in the breeding
  • Full immunity start: 3 weeks after revaccination
  • Immunity duration: 6 months after revaccination
  • Packaging: 25 doses (50 mL)

CONTENT OF ACTIVE AND OTHER SUBSTANCES

One vaccination dose (2 mL) contains:

Active substances:

Inactivated PRRS virus

Strain PRRS/EU        min. 105,1 TCID50,      RP ³ 1

Strain PRRS/US         min. 105,1 TCID50;      RP ³ 1

TCID50 = 50% infectious dose for tissue culture, virus titre determined within in-process control before inactivation.

RP = Relative efficiency (ELISA test) is expressed by comparison of the level of antibodies in the serum of piglets with the level of antibodies in the reference serum acquired after vaccination by the vaccine batch that passed the challenge test on target animals.

Adjuvant: Emulsigen            0.4 mL

Excipient: Thiomersal           0.2 mg

INDICATION: Active immunization of young sows and sows to reduce reproduction disorders and to reduce viraemia caused by the porcine reproduction and respiratory syndrome (European and American virus types).

The start of immunity was proven by a challenge test within 3 weeks after basic vaccination (i.e. after administering three doses) and the duration of immunity was proven by a challenge test for a period of 6 months.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Not known.

ADVERSE EFFECTS: Vaccination may cause temporary edema (swelling) or erythema (max. diameter 3 cm) in the point of injection, which usually disappears within a week, or a small local reaction (granuloma), without any effects on health or production efficiency. Larger reactions (up to diameter 5 cm) were very rare, after frequently repeated vaccinations. Exceptionally, the vaccine may cause a hypersensitive state. In such case, symptomatic treatment is applied.

TARGET ANIMAL SPECIES: Hogs (young sows, sows)

DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, PATH(S) AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Vaccination dose – 2 mL.

Vaccine is applied deeply intramuscularly into neck behind auricle.

Before use, let the vaccine slowly warm at room temperature and shake thoroughly.

Animals (young sows) can be vaccinated before breeding from 6 months of age.

Basic vaccination:

Young sows – initial vaccination 2 x 1 dose at an interval of 2-3 weeks; it is applied before breeding; the third dose is applied on the 60th to 70th day of gestation following initial vaccination.

Sows – initial vaccination 2 x 1 dose at an interval of 2-3 weeks; it is applied before breeding; general vaccination of sows in a flock is recommended at the shortest possible period of time; the third dose on the 60th to 70th day of gestation following initial vaccination.

Revaccination:

Application of 1 dose (2 mL) on the 60th to 70th day of each gestation following basic vaccination.

The range of immunization is up to the veterinarian’s consideration and is dependant also on the specific epizootic situation.

DIRECTIONS FOR CORRECT APPLICATION: Shake the vaccine thoroughly before application.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD: Without withdrawal periods.

SPECIAL MEASURES FOR STORAGE: Keep out of the reach of children.

Store in refrigerator (2°C – 8°C). Protect against frost. Protect against light. Store in dry place.

Do not use after the date of expiration shown on the package. The period of application after the first opening of the package: 10 hours.

SPECIAL NOTICE: Only vaccinate healthy animals.

Do not mix with other vaccines or immunological preparations. It can be used on the 60th to 70th day of gestation (in compliance with the vaccination schedule).

Special measures for use with animals: In flocks infected by PRRS virus, the infection is of a heterogenic character and its signs are varied in a period of time. In this connection, the correctly applied vaccination programme is an efficient tool to improve reproduction indicators and to control the disease along with zoo-sanitary measures.

For animals only. The veterinary medicinal preparation is only issued on prescription.

PACKING: 25 doses (50 mL)
