On the occasion of the event, we asked for a short interview the President of the Czech Association of Aviary Medicine, DVM. Karel Kutlvašr, PhD.
This year you are organizing the 48th professional congress for veterinary specialists in poultry breeding and breeders. What kind of participation do you expect this year?
To date, more than 200 participants from among the veterinary specialists, breeders and scientists have registered. I am happy to say that we have managed to ensure a number of foreign experts who will diversify our professional program.
How long in advance do you have to prepare the program and how do you choose the topics?
Our association organizes two key events for its members during the year. In the spring, it is a seminar on the occasion of the VETfair event. Here we fine-tune the program for the autumn conference, which is organized within the national WVPA and WPSA branch. Members of the Presidium try to make the prepared topics varied and to address as many participants as possible. We were looking for speakers for this year's conference last year at the congress in Verona. I am glad that we have managed to fill the program for both days with quality experts who will address both the veterinarians, breeders and the scientists. We have registered about 30% of the scientists present.
Why in the Vysočina region?
Previously, the annual conference was regularly held in Brno at the Myslivna Hotel. Unfortunately, after closure of the hotel we had to look for a replacement, and for the third year we have been organizing an event in the congress center Tři věžičky in the Vysočina region. The hotel is located in the center of our country, it is relatively easily accessible and the capacity suits us as well. However, organizing the conference would be unthinkable without the sponsorship support of various companies, including Bioveta. I would like to express sincere thanks to all sponsors for such support.
What can you see as the main topics for the future?
It is definitely the avian influenza, one of the crucial topics since 2006. At present, we have to take into account the risk of infection throughout the year, and it has recently been the integral part of differential diagnosis in the avian medicine. We must realize that this is a real danger especially for the breeders exporting a significant part of their production abroad, especially Ukraine, the Middle East, Poland or Russia.
What would you wish for the members of the Association?
I wish all members well-being at work and in their personal lives and I am looking forward to see the participants again next year in the Vysočina region.
Thank you for the interview.
