PRRS virus, live attenuated, strain BIO 60 - EU, min. 103,4 TCID50–max. 106,8 TCID50*

*TCID50 – 50% infectious dose for tissue cultures.

Pharmaceutical form

Lyophilisate and solvent for suspension for injection.

Lyophilisate: Spongy consistency, greyish-white to pinkish in colour.

Solvent: Clear colourless to pinkish solution, free from turbidity and sediment.

Indication with specification for the target species of animals

For active immunization of clinically healthy pigs from 2 weeks of age in the environment contaminated with the European type of PRRS virus.

Onset of immunity up to the protective level - within 4 weeks after vaccination.

Duration of immunity:

Fattening pigs - duration of immunity for 6 months.

Vaccination of two-week-old piglets has been shown to significantly reduce occurrence of lung lesions after the challenge test performed 180 days after vaccination.

Breeding sows - duration of immunity for 16 weeks.

Vaccination of seronegative clinically healthy sows 4 weeks before insemination has been shown to reduce viremia and transplacental infection by PRRS virus  during the critical period (approximately from day 85 of gestation) and minimize the negative impact on reproductive performance, including the number of stillborn piglets, frequency of viremia in piglets, reduced weight gain, viral load and occurrence of lung lesions in piglets.

Do not use the vaccine in the environment where spread of the PRRS virus has not been determined by a reliable diagnostic method to avoid the possibility of vaccine virus spreading to the PRRS negative farm.

It is not recommended to use the vaccine in the farms where systemic eradication of PRRS infection takes place, using regular serological monitoring.

Special precautions for use

Special precautions for use in animals:

Virus shedding was demonstrated for 14 days after vaccination. Measures must be taken to prevent vaccine virus spreading from the vaccinated animals to the non-vaccinated animals which have to remain free from the PRRS virus.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to the animals:

In case of accidental self-injection, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or the label to the physician.

Use during pregnancy, lactation or lay

Use of the vaccine during pregnancy has be considered responsibly in the context of the current situation of PRRS virus spreading in a particular herd, and manifestations of an ongoing infection. The PRRS virus naive sows and gilts that have not encountered the infection yet, should not be vaccinated during pregnancy to prevent possible adverse effects on the foetus.

The vaccine can be used during lactation.

Amounts to be administered and administration route

Aseptically dissolve the lyophilisate by adding adequate quantity of solvent into the vial containing the lyophilisate. After reconstitution, transfer the contents into the vial with solvent. Shake well.

Vaccination dose – 2 ml intramuscularly.

A single dose is given to pigs from 2 weeks of age.

Pigs for fattening: one vaccine dose is sufficient to protect them until slaughter.

Breeding pigs: (re)vaccination is recommended in gilt 4 weeks before mating. To achieve a uniform level of protection, revaccination at regular intervals is recommended, either before each subsequent pregnancy or for the whole period of keeping every 16 weeks.

New, PRRS virus-free animals brought to the farm (e.g. gilts from PRRS-negative farms) should be vaccinated before conception.

It is recommended to vaccinate all pigs from the earliest recommended age.

Maternal antibodies have not been shown to affect response to vaccination.

Store and transport refrigerated products (2 °C–8 °C).

Protect from frost. Protect from light.

After reconstitution (for 3 hours), store the vaccine at the temperature below 25 °C.
