Veterinary pharmaceutical preparation with luteolytic effect.
Cloprostenol, a synthetic functional analogue of prostaglandin F2a, is notable for a specific luteolytic effect. Its use in the luteal phase of estrous cycle causes degeneration of the corpus luteum, creating thus preconditions for an onset of heat and ovulation. First signs of the commencing heat occur within 48 to 60 hours after the administration, with the most suitable time for insemination being about 76 hours after the treatment.
- synchronization and induction of heat in heifers and cows; induction of farrowing in sows.
- functional disorders of ovaries, postpartum and post-service anestrus (silent heat, irregular cycle, persisting corpus luteum, luteal cyst); postpuerperal chronic endometritis, pyometra; interruption of normal or pathologic pregnancy (in the first half of gravidity); combined therapy of follicular cysts (from day 10 after HCG or LHRH treatment, after a positive ovarian response has been revealed); induction of parturition.
The product must not be used during physiologic gravidity, particularly in its second half (with an exception of indicated cases).
Method of administration and dosage:
- 2 ml of the product into the muscle (i.e. 0.5 mg of the active substance). With an aim of induction and synchronization of heat, the product should be administered twice 10 days apart. The first dose is to be administered at any phase of the sexual cycle (in cows - at the period between days 40 and 60 after calving). On day 11 after the first treatment, the second dose should be administered. Insemination is to be carried out, irrespective of outward signs of heat, on day 14 (i.e. 72 - 76 hours after the second treatment), with a subsequent re-insemination (day 15). Any use of the product in order to induce synchronization in cattle must be preceded by an examination of sexual organs. Physiological state of sexual organs, in heifers - body and sexual maturity, are prerequisites for classification of animals into groups.
Functional disorders of ovaries - are treated with 2 ml of the product, insemination should be carried out at the first subsequent heat. If the heat does not occur, the administration of 2 ml of the product should be repeated on day 11 after the first treatment, with a succeeding insemination over 72 - 76 hours and/or re-insemination.
Follicular cysts - are treated with 2 ml of the product administered at a single dose, however no sooner than on day 10 after HCG or LHRH treatment when the corpus luteum has been ascertained. Heat will occur on day 3 after OESTROPHAN inj. ad us. vet. administration.
Postpuerperal diseases of the uterus - 2 ml of the product should be administered (if need be, the treatment may be supplemented with an intrauterine administration of foam products, and/or irrigation - best of all simultaneously with the administration). Repeated administration should be carried out on day 11, insemination - on day 14, and re-insemination - on day 15.
Interruption of pregnancy, induction of parturition:
- a single dose of 2 ml of the product (further treatment according to the clinical status) pro toto.Sows: a single dose of 1 ml of the product (i.e. 0.25 mg of the active substance) should be administered from day 111 of gravidity. In the majority of cases, the parturition induced occurs within 40 hours after the administration, with the maximum culminating between hours 24 and 35.
